I mean it sure as shit does not look like heavy steel, you know, the stuff that could actually stop bullets...
Maybe I'm wrong and it's just really rusty metal (I mean it is Russia / Ukraine) but it sure looks like that cardboard body kit you made in high school...

That is steel. It looks like it was cut with a oxy/acet cutting torch. Look around the eye holes. That's not 'really' rusty to me either; it looks like a regular sheet of probably cold rolled steel that has been kept outside.

That is plywood and on the front those are 2x4s.

I think the intention is to prevent shrapnel more than bullets.
